Deep Roots, Steep Chutes

Our HISTORY

Cold Smoke Organics' began in 2012 under the original brand natrapeutics. As a medical cannabis company in the Gallatin Valley, our founders began natrapeutics out of necessity to help relieve symptoms associated with cancer. The project started with a personal pull. One of those founders, BJ Kleman was fighting his own battle with cancer. BJ's need for relief and the drive to help others like him in the community inspired what became years of research and development geared towards combating the side effects of cancer and other terminal illnesses. As word spread that natrapeutics was taking a more clinical approach to medical cannabis, the company grew into what it is today. We continue to work closely with the Montana medical community formulating a list of products that continues to evolve as we meet new people and the challenges they face.

After nearly two decades of battling cancer, BJ passed away in 2020, leaving a legacy that continues to change people's lives every day. With natrapeutics as the bedrock coupled with the legalization of adult-use cannabis in Montana, Cold Smoke Organics now has the opportunity to share BJ's passion for this plant with the rest of the world. BJ always said "Keep Smiling” and we hope that is your experience when you come visit us.

Our Mission

The Mission is simple. Preserve our way of life.

As the legalization of cannabis worldwide is coming online, many have their feelings about how to brand “Big Cannabis” and market it to the masses. Fancy watches and cars show status in this industry as if material possessions can quantify the level of a company’s success or a master grower’s prowess. The only watch that matters to us is the Sun, and our dream vehicles would be a fleet of tractors. For us, cannabis is a way of life and has been for generations in our family. No different than a chef trying to create a new dish, or a cheesemaker looking to perfect his Parmigiano-Reggiano, we work with cannabis because it's our expression of art for the world to experience. As we move closer to a legalized world of cannabis, our hope is the plant takes center stage. We hope the nuances in taste, smell, and effect from one farm to the next, will be celebrated.

OUR VALUES

  • Our origin is steeped in the medical approach to cannabis and the pursuit of wellness. Our belief is to put quality before everything in order to achieve that pursuit. From harnessing mother nature’s design in our soil beds to our hand-washed, cold-cured solventless extracts. We are always looking to achieve a TRUE representation of our cultivars and the healthiest versions of each. We like to say “it’s getting there”, rather than it’s perfect. There’s always room for improvement and always an opportunity to push our practices further. The products we offer reflect that desire to keep honing our craft.

  • For us, cannabis is a way of life. For others, a Friday night. In the new world of legalized marijuana, we all get to choose what cannabis means to us. To us it means everything, and we didn’t get here without sacrifice along the way. The Cold Smoke Organics family belongs to a tiny community of pioneers and buccaneers who risked it all to advance this plant into what it has become today. To us, growing this plant is a privilege not without sacrifice, and to all of those that came before us, we salute you.

  • Each of us looks forward to another day of working with this incredible plant. A newly discovered terpene profile that brings back a fond memory, or breeding the perfect blend of Afghani that lulls a restless person to sleep. Nuances and discoveries like these are a part of our lives, and we are eager to see what comes next. To preserve our appetite for all things cannabis, we must preserve our approach. That is, to always put quality above everything, to always remember a customer’s tastes, and above all - maintain the integrity of what we wake up to do every day. Our projects never go beyond the scope of what we can handle and the methods we’ve developed along the way. We’re hoping to turn on a few - rather than the many - and preserve the quality we are known for.
